Herzing Online Surpasses the 1,000 Fan Mark on Facebook

June 23, 2010

Herzing University Online recently achieved the status of passing the 1,000 fan mark on the popular social networking site Facebook. The Herzing University Online official fan page was originally launched September 1, 2009, and has grown dramatically since its inception, thanks to current students and graduates generating excitement about the page.

Students and Alumni are using the Herzing fan page to talk about classes, network with other students, follow University news, and even network with current job seekers and employers. While checking the fan page, you will frequently encounter staff and students offering words of encouragement to each other. Herzing University Online’s Campus President, Dr. Todd Rickel, says “The use of social media is even more relevant when dealing with students in an online environment. Herzing Online’s fan page serves as a support system to our students, permitting them to engage with their fellow classmates even though they are hundreds of miles away, and allowing them to feel more connected to the University as a whole. So far it has been a very positive experience for our staff and students.”

Of the 1,000 Herzing University Online fans, 84% are female and 36% range from 25-34 years of age. This comes as no surprise to staff since it mirrors the main demographic for those enrolled in the university.
